The Independent Palace located at 135 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The Independence Palace, also known as Reunification Palace, built on the site of the former Norodom Palace.

Why The Independent Palace is unique?

The Independence Palace is a symbol of the victory, the peace, and the territorial integrity of Vietnam country. It becomes one of the most attractive visiting sightseeing in Ho Chi Minh City. It also symbolizes for the traditional philosophy, Oriental rituals and personalities of Vietnam nation. In addition, it is in the harmonious combination with modern architectures. The Palace has an area of 120.000m2 (300m x 400m). The architect Ngo Viet Thu designed its architectural works. And this was the first Vietnamese architect winning the very first Grand Prize of Rome. Particularly, the Palace keeps numerous valuable artworks. The banquet room keeps an oil painting showing the landscape of Vietnam nation, which the architect Ngo Viet Thu finished in 1966. The watercolor painting Vietnam nation in State reception room by Trong Noi artist and Binh Ngo Dai Cao depict the serenity of the nation from the 15th century.

The Palace currently preserves two precious lacquer paintings by artist Nguyen Gia Tri themed Lotus and Ke cuc. Dozens of ceramic vases from the Ming - Qing adorned with varied topics can be also found here.

In addition to, outdoor exhibits on display today is the tank 843 that in the past led the final assault throughout the palace gate at 11.30AM on 30th Apr 1975. And the F5E fighter plane that Lieutenant Nguyen Thanh Trung bombed the Independent Palace on 8th Apr, 1975. Two artifacts contribute to turn the palace into considerably more attractive to tourists thanks to their historical elements. Therefore, it is one of the most attractive sites in Ho Chi Minh City by unique art and architecture.

How to get to The Independent Palace?

It has four main streets, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street to the Northeast, Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street to the southwest, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai to the northwest, and Nguyen Du Street to the southeast. The 30 April Park covers it in the front and Tao Dan Cultural Park in the back. Particularly, the campus of the Palace has many ancient trees with different species since the French period.

The number of tourists to the Independent Palace is progressively growing year by year. It includes both domestic and foreign tourists. It welcomes around 700 - 1, 000 tourists per day on average.
