Giving Back to the Community
Origin Travel focuses on Responsible Tourism in Vietnam.
Giving back to local communities has been a principle of Origin Travel’s founder Mr. Ruby since his days as a student at Tourism University in Hanoi, Vietnam.Charity Projects
Origin Vietnam Foundation raises awareness for social and environmental issues in the region and generates support for charitable projects working to improve these issues. Apart from that we work closely with local communities and suppliers to set up new Community-Based Tourism projects and other grassroots initiatives in Vietnam.
For most, to work in the travel industry is to have an innate passion for the planet and all the organisms and peoples that make it such an extraordinary place. Not only is a clean and healthy environment necessary in order to sustain a viable industry, but preservation is also vital for future generations. It is the responsibility of everyone who travels the world to be conscientious about where they tread and what impact this has on the world around you.
Acknowledging the power of tourism to change and improve lives we place a strong emphasis on responsible tourism, working with an ethical mind whenever developing product which leaves us in good standing to identify existing areas of poverty where initiatives will be well received.
Essentially, the idea of ‘responsible tourism’ transcends conventional perceptions of travel, in stead immersing clients in authentic experiences that mutually benefit both local and visitor. Sustainable tourism is the future of travel, bringing people closer together and developing a style of travel that is conducive to making the world a better place.
Community Based Tourism
As active supporters of community-based tourism Origin Travel incorporates projects with local organizations offering clients the opportunity to learn more about authentic cultures while improving welfare and supporting environmental and cultural preservation.
Whenever possible Origin turns of all idling engines and use eco-friendly modes of transport. On adventure trips through remote areas, we use biodegradable cleaning products, dispose of waste properly and ensure no litter gets left behind.
We also encourage travelers to stay at eco-resorts, to see more about our responsible accommodation options.
By working with local charities we can maximize the benefits of tourism on local society and economy. By incorporating sustainable tourism projects into Origin’s itineraries, promoting charity ran shops and vocational institutions that train local youths we are actively partaking in showcasing the beauty of these destinations while exploring positive ways to contribute to the growth Indochina.
Project Done from 2010
Origin Travel focuses on Responsible Tourism in Vietnam. Giving back to local communities has been a principle of Origin’s founder Ruby since his student days.
On the 25 December 2010 Ruby took the Nieto family on a tour of Cong Dam Floating village in Bai Tu Long Bay and gave 32 chilren books and pencils. This is one small gesture but it is significant to the children who now have supplies of books for almost a whole year..
The students performed a wonderful play they wrote for us.
This is a small gesture but it is very significant to the 25 children who now have supplies of notebooks for almost a whole year and are committed to studying hard this year!
In addition to this donation, Origin Travel provides comprehensive scholarships for five children from poor families in the village who do not have the financial ability to attend school. These scholarships provide funds for school supplies and appropriate clothing.
The recipients of the scholarships in 2011-2012 and 2012 – 2013 and 2013 – 2014 are:
- Ngyen Van Thuan Grade 1
- Nguyen Thi Thuy Grade 4
- Nguyen Van Lanh Grade 4
- Nguyen Thi Yen Grade 2
- Nguyen Thi Truc Grade 4
Funding for this year old program comes entirely from a portion of the profit from Origin Travel’s business and small donations from our clients.
We are very proud of being able to contribute to the betterment of the children in the village and hope to make even larger contributions to Bai Tu and other villages in the area in the future.
We hope that our clients and guests are able to make a small donation to our program, or even create a small, lightweight “care” package with basic, readily available school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, erasers for our students.
We believe that children without education is like a car without gasoline. Education is the key to the future for children and families in impoverished areas of our country and we are doing our part to ensure it is available to as many children as possible.
